A cutting horse saddle has a somewhat flat and smooth seat. The cutter saddle has a horn that is usually thinner and taller than other saddle horns which enables the rider to push and pull on it as the horse makes quick and/or sudden moves. The cantle is lower than other western saddles. The jockeys and fenders usually are rough out for better grip.
